Administrative History
The school was erected in 1878 for 200 children. Known initially as St James' School, it became Bugsworth Board School under the control of the Chinley Bugsworth and Brownside School Board from 1883. In 1903 it passed into the control of the Derbyshire County Council, when it became known as Bugsworth Council School. The name changed from Bugsworth to Buxworth in the early 1930s.
