Title
Duffield Fee Manor draft court roll book
Date
Jun 1595-May 1599
Description
Pages 1-14 comprise examples of templates or exemplars of different types of manorial documents for Duffield Fee
Pages 17-321 comprise entries of court rolls for Views of Frankpledge aith Great Courts and Small Courts, 19 June 37 Elizabeth [1595] to 24 May 41 Elizabeth [1595] - seemingly made at or close to the time of the courts held, often incomplete or with gaps for text to be potentially added later, with information for many entries as "recorded" in a later year
In the margins are named the individual manors where transactions took place and the types of transaction entered, with the addition, in the 18th century, of personal names of people involved
Pages 17-25 are for Duffield Frith (including Belper), 19 June 37 Elizabeth [1595] to 1 July 38 Elizabeth [1596]; Page 42-45 are for Fee of Duffield Frith, 16 Sep 38 Elizabeth [1596]
There are seemingly no entries for Belper after 16 August 38 Elizabeth [1596]
Between pages 78 and 79 there is a loose sheet of draft roll for Small Court of Duffield Fee (Frith crossed out), 13 January 39 Elizabeth [1597]
At end, observations on the content of the volume and an alphabetical index of personal names (18th century)
Soft back parchment cover, marked "Duffield Frith" on front
Numbered 1 on inside front cover
