| Description | Seal in natural wax - a cinquefoil + SI ( ) CARDI BARIONAS This date of this catalogue entry was amended from [late 13th century] on the advice of a researcher who advised that the grantor actually died c1204, and the deed cannot therefore be later than this. The information provided read;- "the date is late c12 or circa 1200, not late c.13. The first witness Hubert son of Ralph was the lord of Crich; other witnesses confirm the date. The grantor was dead by c.1204. We can see that Robert de Alveley (a person of Lea??) and Peter of Wakebridge were his nephews. Both will have been tenants of Hubert" - updated 27/02/2015 |
