Title
J W Dalton* Derby to Colonel Thomas Sanders - ' as I had no hand in this unhappy tumult, so I hope you will witness with me that I was not in arms until I saw you march up our street in the head of the company and you called to me - I thought you invited me to follow you and did so until you commanded the dismissal of the townspeople and I disarmed myself - I therefore disarmed myself - I therefore entreat so much favour from you as to grant me a certificate for my safety'.
