Descriptionto be buried in Alvaston Church as near as possible to the burial place of his first wife, Mary, and if possible in the same grave - to the eldest son of his son in law Robert Mellor of Idridgehay, £5 - to the eldest son of this son in law John Spateman, £5 - to the rest of his grandchildren, the remainder of his lease for 21 years of the manors of Ashover and Lea, made by Sir John Peshall of Horsley and Bridgitt his wife to John Spateman and since assigned to Walker - to his grandchildren Caleb, Rebeccah and Mary Spateman, the £100 owed to him by John Spateman - to his grandchild Mary Stenson, the remainder of his lease of 21 years of a close at Tissington called Backmore and the remainder of his lease of 22 years of two thirds of the township of Parwich Moor - to his daughter Sarah, wife of Robert Mellor, all his household goods in her possession - to John Gisborne and Margery his wife, £5 each - to his goddaughter Joane, daughter of John Gisborne, £5 - to Mr Hiren, minister of Breadsall, 40s - to Mary Stanley of Chaddesden 40s - to the poor of All Saints, Derby, £7; St Werburgh, Derby , £7; St Alkmund, Derby £3 10s; St Michael's, Derby, 20s; Breadsall, £6; Alvaston, £6; Boulton 20s; Mickleover 40s; - to his son in law Robert Mellor, his best coat, best suit of cloth, 2 cloaks and all his body linen - the remainder of his apparel to be divided between his poor neighbours in Breadsall - to Gervase Bennett, £100 to Robert Bennett, his son, £50 and to Gervase's wife, £50, upon condition that within 2 months of his death, Gervase binds land, not in Parwich, sufficient to pay £50 per annum to his executrix for the remainder of his lease of two thirds of Parwich, and if Gervase shall not do so, then to have 12d each - to Ann Marshall, his brother's daughter, £20 - to Edward Walker of Full St, £10 - for putting apprentice 10 poor men's children in Breadsall, 20s each - to Elizabeth Ward, daughter of Henry Ward of Derby, £10 - to his servant Ellin Stiffe, the bedstead she usually lies on with all the bedclothes - no more than £40 to be spent on his funeral - to his grandchild, Mary Stenson, £100 - all bills and bonds which he had disposed of by endorsement, to be delivered to the persons named by the endorsements - to a minister to be chosen by Mr Hyron, the ministers of Matlock and Ashover and John Spateman, to serve the chapel at Dethick, £5 per annum for ever - to his trustees John Gisborne of Derby and John Sclator of Hognaston, 20s each - the residue of his estates to his grandchild Mary Stenson who is to be sole executrix. 4 Mar 1661/2
