DescriptionLicensed premises were entitled to stay open longer in towns and populous places (as defined by the licensing Acts) than in rural areas; under the terms of the licensing Act 1874 and the licensing (Consolidation) Act 1910, the divisional licensing committees submitted requests and applications in respect of these areas to the county committee for approval.
