A geological map covering the area northwest of Atherstone. Including: Charnwood Forest, Thornton, Woodhouse, Hancote, Ibstock, Coalville, Packington, Donisthorpe, Newton Regis and Market Bosworth.
The area is dominated by Triassic rocks, mainly; Keuper Marl and Bunter Sandstone. Other utcrops include; Carboniferous coal measures, limestone and shales; Cambrian shales; Precambrian Blackbrook Series, Maplewell Series, Brand Series and un-named porphyry rocks; igneous rocks, Syenite and Diorite; Superficial deposits of alluvium, glacial till/boulder clay and glacial sand and gravels.
The map includes concealed faults, boreholes and pit shafts.
