Description
The properties identified in the catalogue entries were checked against Hasland tithe map and award and were found to be in the ownership of S. Gorrell Barnes, who also owned colliery works there. It had been his son, Alfred, who had taken the initiative to establish Grassmoor Colliery in 1846.
