Description
Indenture of release between (1) Catherine Master of St James's Place, Kingdown Parade near Bristol, widow of Legh Master formerly of Newhall, parish Winwick, County Palatine of Lancaster, and late of Frederick County, state of Maryland in North America, where he died on or about 23 March, (2) Catherine Master of St James's Place, Kingdown Parade near Bristol, only daughter and younger child of Legh Master by Catherine his widow, (3) the Reverend Legh Hoskins Master of Limpsfield, county Surrey, clerk, only son of and heir of Legh Master and Catherine his widow, and (4) Sir John Gresham of Titsey, county Surrey, baronet, and William Jeffrey Lockett of Derby. gentleman,
Reciting marriage settlement of Legh Master and Catherine his wife, 14 August 1753, assignment of mortgage, 25 April 1788, instrument and lease and release, 23-25 June 1796.
In consideration of £5000 as the marriage portion of Catherine Master the daughter, and 5 shillings for a lease for a year
Copy attested 1 May 1797, but written on paper of a later date, 18 pages plus title page.
