Title
Woolley Moor Drift Mine post-vesting records
Date
1954-1955
Description
The Woolley Moor Drift mine was a small mine opened in 1954-1955 by the National Coal Board to mine the Alton Seam. It went on to employ 61 miners in 1958, in September of which year the decision was taken to close the mine due to the coal's high sulphur content, which rendered it unsaleable.
