Bradwell is characterised by traditional stone-built houses clustered along the valley sides and around Bradwell Brook. The village and surrounding area have a long history of lead mining and contain evidence of prehistoric and Roman activity, including the nearby Batham Gate Roman road and the post-Roman Grey Ditch
