History	The firm, based in Collingham near Newark is said to have been founded in 1810 by Thomas Smith Woolley (c1785-1857), surveyor and valuer; and later maintained by his son, Thomas Smith Woolley (1819-1888) and subsequently by his sons, Thomas Cecil Smith Woolley (1853 -1913) and Reginald Smith Woolley (1857-1929). In 1870 John Wigram (1846-1943), surveyor, joined the firm, which then traded under the name Smith Woolley and Wigram. In or about 1918 the firm appears to have reverted to the name Smith Woolley. As of 2021, the firm continues to practise.
