History
Clowne Junior School had its foundation as a mixed Board School in 1878, following the formation of a School Board for Clowne in 1876. There seem to have been separate admission registers for boys and girls from at least 1880 and in November 1888 the boys moved to new buildings, whilst the girls and infants remained in the old school. A junior mixed department was formed in 1901, with separate records for boys and girls departments kept from July 1916. Infants (boys) seem to have been included in the boys' department from 1917. The school had become a Council School in 1903. In January 1953, the junior and senior boys' schools departments were reorganised as a mixed junior school.
