History
Shire Hill View Hospital, on Bute Street, Glossop, was opened in 1897. After the foundation of the National Health Service, the hospital specialised in geriatric medicine, and was run by the Ashton, Hyde and Glossop Hospital Management Committee, then Tameside District Health Authority from 1974. As at May 2010, Shire Hill View was managed by Tameside and Glossop Primary Care Trust.
