| History | The company was formed by Act of Parliament in 1825. It was dissolved but reincorporated by the Chesterfield Waterworks and Gaslight Company Act in 1855. The statutory area of supply was the town and borough of Chesterfield, the parish of Brampton and the townships of Newbold, Walton, Tapton and Hasland, and from 1855 included Brimington and Whittington. In 1895 the company was dissolved by the Chesterfield Gas and Water Board Act, being replaced by the Board created by the Act. The Board was dissolved in 1920 and the powers and duties were transferred to Chesterfield Corporation. |
