Biography | One of the chief factors of the Hudson Bay Company, who was hired by Sir John Franklin c.1824, to build and equip a fort (later known as Fort Franklin) on Great Bear Lake and to run it after Franklin left on his second overland expedition. He was later leader (with Thomas Simpson) of a Hudson Bay Company overland expedition to survey the Canada's north coast, 1836-1839 |
