History
An advertisement in Kelly's Directory of Derbyshiere 1899 and newspaper advertisements in the 1930s describe the company as having been founded in 1834. The business appears to have been built by John Jerram (1835-1927) at premises in Babington Lane, Derby. John Jerram retired in or about 1893 and was succeeded as head of the firm by his business partner, Thomas Furner (1855-1903) and subsequently by Thomas Furner's son Arthur Clive Furner (1896-1977). The firm was incorporated as a limited company in 1905.
