Description
[mid-sentence] reference to Russian colleague celebrating anniversary of the Russian Emperor’s coronation having mentioned the anniversary to neither British nor French fellow captains. Indicates being constantly on guard against large-scale Russian intrigue. Has not heard from Jane [Lady Franklin] for six weeks: believes her to be at Smyrna: hopes to see her soon in Malta. Gets good news of his child: praises his sister’s tuition. Asks Richardson to send news if he should see her. Kendall not yet obtained a fixed salary: hopes they have sailed by now. Mary Ann will be delighted at your prospect of happiness: will write to Mary Booth.
