Title
Nellie Kirkham correspondence with Doug Nash
Date
1959-1960
Description
Including 11 page letter from Nash dated 20 May 1959, replying to several of Kirkham's earlier letters, which includes a lengthy description of a digging of a shaft and investigations under the land of a Mr Hardy (he refers to Ordnance Survey 25-inch map 34.1, field 490 - this area is marked "old lead shafts" on the map itself, not included). Of the dig, Nash comments: "One thing interested me a lot, I no longer wonder at the size of the spoil heaps round insignificant shafts, I've built one of my own out of this dig which has near buried a wall and half buried a tree! I'm only 27 feet deep at that".
