| Description | In 1998, Junction Arts were asked by Bolsover District Council to create permanent public works of art for the shopping mall. Artist Anna Dixon was commissioned to work in South Normanton and Pinxton schools and with local residents to devise eight themes which could be incorporated into mosaic panels. The schools involved were Frederick Gent Secondary, Green Infants, Brigg Infants, Glebe Junior (all South Normanton) and John King Infants, Kirkstead Junior and Longwood Infants (all Pinxton). The Project Co-ordinator was Clare Bodill and the panels were installed by A Andrews & Sons (Marbles and Tiles) Ltd of Leeds, Yorkshire. These files contain a project proposal, timetable for the project as a whole, timetable for the summer mosaic workshops with artist Samantha Watling, project notes and correspondence, artist and service contracts, papers relating to an application to the Pairing Scheme of the Association for Business Sponsorship of the Arts (ABSA), and the full original set of painted designs, with accompanying interpretative text. They also include a photograph of Tina Glover with Chris Smith MP, then Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport at a reception in London on 19 Jul 1999, and the invitation to the event, which was for award winners under the Arts and Business Pairing Scheme. |
