TitleCopy of court roll of the manor of Sawley: admittance to the uses of Robert Holden's will in which the jurors and homage presented that Robert Holden esquire, died seised of messuage in Long Eaton then late in occupation of Thomas Taft and Edward Woolley, oxgang of land, meadow and pasture dispersed in several fields of Long Eaton then late in Thomas Taft's occupation, all the copyhold lands late of John Shelton the elder and John Shelton the younger, Smalley Croft in Long Eaton lying open to and adjacent to Home Close then late in Robert Storer's occupation, reciting in part Holden's will dated 28 November 1742 (see D 779B/T 560) and finding that Robert son of Alexander Holden is surviving devisee in trust of the will, that James and Mary Shuttleworth are dead, that their sons James and William successively assumed the name of Holden and died without issue, and that their son Charles has now assumed the name of Holden and is in posession of the lands devised by Robert Holden and is entitled with Robert son of Alexander to be admitted to the premises, and they were admitted, fine £16.
