Letters to Charles Sprengel Greaves: 1874-1880: from S[amuel] Riley of Bradley, understood to be agent in respect of C S Greaves's property in Bradley. These letters, one written every few days, give substantial and detailed information about day to day matters in Bradley, including local farms and their tenants; local social life; the impact of the weather; the contents of game hampers sent to C S Greaves; and the well-being or otherwise of local inhabitants. Some letters bear draft replies: a few letters bear what appear to be draft replies written in shorthand.
