| Administrative History | Canon Paul William Miller was born in Barnet, north London, in 1918. He was, for a short time, a lay brother at the Society of the Sacred Mission in Kelham, Nottinghamshire, before joining the Sherwood Foresters on the outbreak of World War II. He served in France and then in Singapore, where he was captured; he then spent the next four years as a Prisoner of War. After his return to Britain, he trained as a minister of the Church of England, and spent the rest of his career working in the Diocese of Derby. He was curate in Staveley, then Matlock, then Vicar of Codnor from 1955 to 1961. He was made Assistant Curate of Derby Cathedral in 1964, then Canon Residentiary and Precentor in 1966. After retiring in 1983, he led worship at the Bridge Chapel in Derby. |
