Administrative History | The Mothers' Union movement began informally in 1876, as a small group in Old Alresford, in the diocese of Winchester. Since then, it has spread around the world, defining its aim as "to demonstrate the Christian faith in action by the transformation of communities worldwide through the nurture of the family in its many forms". By the time the Diocese of Derby was created, in 1927, there were already several parishes with active branches.
