(Document A) Judgment of the court dated 2 Mar 1895. Both parties agree to changes to certain clauses in their Deed of Separation of 29 Jun 1892, including to make provision for payment by Mrs Bolton of an allowance to Mr Bolton of £10 per month, rising to £20 after 1 Mar 1898. Refers also to provision for plaintiff's mother and sister, and to property purchased in Madeira [Afrikaans];

(Document B) Sworn testimonies of Hannah Butler and Joseph Henry Cooke, before Special Commissioner Frederic Coleridge Mackarness, Advocate of the Cape Colony (taken at his London chambers on 24 Jan 1894). Testimony of Hannah Butler as an employee of Mrs Bolton concerns relations between Major Bolton and his wife, esp as to whether the [separation] agreement between the couple was signed by Mrs Bolton of her own free will; testimony of Cooke as the family solicitor (Wise, son and Cooke, solicitors, Ashbourne) and trustee under the couple's marriage settlement concerns whether Mrs Bolton had the right to pay her husband an allowance out of property coming to her from the will of Francis Johnson or her marriage settlement, and the purchase of property in Madeira from the trust estate in Major Bolton's name
