Administrative History | The Long Eaton Co-operative Society was established in 1867. The first General Meeting took place in Jan 1868 at the old Wesleyan chapel. A shop was opened in Gibb Street, though later locations included Union Street and Howitt Street. A reading room was established in 1877 and later a library. The Society was affiliated to the Labour Party between the years 1918-c1923. |
