Description
W. Dawes & Son's boat 'Shamrock' waits to be unloaded at Cromford Wharf. The coal stocked on the wharf ready for distribution by horse and cart, virtually all the coal coming from Hartshay Colliery. In the background is the 'Gothic Building ' on the wharf c1820s, Arkwright's former chapel, St. Mary's Church 1797 and Willesley Castle.
