Description
Detailed record of receipts and payments: a wide range of personal transactions, including travel to and from London and various locations in East Midlands counties, including racecourses; purchase of wines and spirits and medicinal products; expenditure on the care and upkeep of horses: payments in relation to the estate of the author's late brother: one receipt is for the proceeds of selling the clothes of a late servant, Giovanny.
The name of the author does not appear in the book, but detailed entries about family members and locality indicate that the author is Samuel Phillips (c1710-1774) who inherited Garendon Hall, Leicestershire in 1737 on the death of his brother Sir Ambrose Phillips.
