Administrative History
Overseers of the poor were civil parish officers. As part of their duties they were responsible for getting money from putative fathers when a mother and her illegitimate child were being looked after by the parish.
Custodial History
The records were found in Elvaston Castle Museum and given by the museum in June 2002.
