Administrative History | Local Boards of Health were established in 1848 to administer services which related to public health in populated areas not covered by Borough Councils.
The Local Government Act of 1858 provided a stronger statutory base for such boards. The Act was adopted in Dronfield in 1861. Under the Public Health Act 1872 Local Boards of Health were designated Urban Sanitary Authorities and in 1894, these authorities became Urban District Councils under the Local Government Act of that year.
Under the County of Derby Review Order, 1935, parts of the parishes of Coal Aston, Dronfield Woodhouse and Unstone were added to the parish and Urban District of Dronfield. |
Custodial History | These records were deposited by Dronfield UDC between 1968 and 1977. |
