Administrative History | The Ashover Hydropathic Company was established in 1869, making it one of the earliest limited companies. Hydropathy became popular following the success of the hydro established in Matlock by John Smedley. The Ashover hydro continued in use as a hotel into the mid 20th century. It then became a training centre for staff of the East Midlands Electricity Board. When that use ceased, the building was sold for development and division into residential units. |
