Description
Portrait of Parsons in profile, facing right and and holding his hands on his stomach. He has a lined face and long white hair. He wears yellow breeches and coat, a white ruff and red cape. On his head he wears a brown hat with a large red feather. Available on CD 157.

William Parsons (1736-1795) was born in London and worked as a strolling player in northern England and Scotland. He made his debut at Drury Lane in 'The Beggar's Opera' in 1762.
He played Justice Shallow at Drury Lane on 29 Sep 1778 and 24 Oct 1778. He was drawn in this role and the subsequent print used to illustrate a 1785 edition of Shakespeare.
