Title
James Farewell Wright of Eyam (1738-1805)
Date
1770-1806
Description
James was the fourth son of John and Jane Wright. The Eyam and Great Longstone estates were inherited by his elder brother Captain Robert Wright, but in 1796 James purchased Eyam Hall from his nephew, Robert's son John Thomas Wright, who lived in Devon. James already owned the house called The Firs in Eyam, which had been given to him by his father in 1767 (see D5430/4/11 ). James married Jane Sisum of Kensington in 1761 (see series D5430/32) and had five children who survived into adulthood.
