Description | The Chesterfield and District Water Polo and Squadron League was formed on 10 March 1931, after the Chesterfield Swimming Club had formed a sub-committee to promote its creation. The League initially consisted of teams from the Chesterfield, Hasland, Tibshelf, Clay Cross, Creswell, Bolsover and Staveley Works Swimming Clubs. The Chesterfield League finished in July 1938, although an abortive attempt was made by Creswell Men's Swimming Club to found a new league between January and April 1939. Squadron races were swimming relays. These records passed into the hands of the Secretary of Creswell Men's Swimming Club in 1939, and were retained by him until December 1993, when they were deposited in the Record Office. |
