Administrative History | The Kettering Iron and Coal Co was founded in 1876, when Herbert Sartoris and F W Preston took over the ironsone pits of Messr Wallis & Manners near Kettering. In 1951, the company was nationalised under the Iron and Steel Act, and became part of the Iron and Steel Corporation of Great Britain. In 1956, it was bought from the the Holding and Realisation Agency by Stewarts and Lloyds. When Stewarts and Lloyds acquired the Staveley Iron and Chemical Co in 1960, they merged with the Stanton Iron Works Co to form Stanton and Staveley. |
