Administrative History
The British Interplanetary Society was founded in Liverpool in 1933 with the aim of supporting and promoting the exploration of space and astronautics. The Derby group was established in September 1957 and met at the Seven Stars Inn, in Derby. It was originally a sub-branch of the Midlands Branch, based in Birmingham, but in 1960 became a branch in its own right.
