Title | William Sutherland to Jaques and Fisher: reports the hurricane of 27-28 August. The negroes' provisions have suffered most; the buildings have escaped quite lightly; as there was only a small crop in the ground the plantation has not been hit as severely as other neighbouring ones. Has set the negroes to repairing their houses and planting potatoes. Mr. Shirley on Petershead estate has lost a trash house in the storm and a wharf at Morant Bay. 29 August - 7 September |
