Descriptionwhereby for £21 15s paid to Higgs by the Barkers and 5s paid to Higgs by Goodwin, Higgs conveyed an ancient messuage, dwelling house or tenement on Winster-bank heretofore and now in two dwellings and in the several occupations of John Bradley and William Orme formerly belonging [to] Joseph Higgs of Winster and by John Higgs his son and heir conveyed to Robert Higgs, and little edifice or stable on the north-westerly side of the house, 2 small gardens or parcels of land on east side of house, courtyard or ground in front or west of the house, reserving any pews in chapel of Winster and all lands, privileges and premises heretofore belonging to the messuage or the owners or occupiers thereof as being one of the 14 ancient messuages in Winster entitled to or claiming and exclusive right to serve the office of chapel-warden, to Goodwin in trust as to lower or north end or dwelling of the messuage and ½ stable, garden adjoining northerly end of east side of house for Robert Barker, as to other or southwardly dwelling or messuage, other half of stable and the garden adjoining southerly end of house, for Edmund Barker. Thomas Pearce attorney for livery of seisin. Dated 20 Feb Endorsed with livery of seisin, 24 May 1788, taken by Pearce and on 4 November 1791, Thomas ‘Peirce’ being dead without having executed the letters of attorney, Robert Higgs entered the premises and took seisin and then delivered them to Goodwin in trust
