Title
"The Way We Lived" by Mr J Storey, an account of his early years in Derbyshire. He was born in 1900 at Clowne. His father's father was a bailiff for the same farmer for over 40 years in Staveley; his mother was a daughter of George Vernon, personal valet to the Duke of Portland at Welbeck Abbey. He also gives an account of his father's life before marriage, including a journey to, and life in, Canada. Mr Storey describes his father's work after marriage, life at home and school, village and social life, including during the 1st World War. At the end is a paragraph of notes for each of Clowne, Creswell and Whitwell. Dated 1969, but with a reference to Mr Storey's return to Clowne in 1970 to see his brother.
