Nicholls had suffered a previous head injury 6 years earlier. From Consultant neurosurgeon's notes of 2 July 1959: Diagnosis. Chromophobe pituitary adenoma'. Radiation treatment followed this. 'Since 1954 I have not been right in my head. I lay awake for hours at night because I cannot relax. I keep thinking about things'. Unforeseen aggravation was not accepted and finally the Appeal was withdrawn, thus staying as a 5 per cent life assessment from 1954. |
