A letter dated 25 May 1950 describes a long history of dermatitis (since 1939). He was sent to a skin specialist in 1947 and was advised to register as a disabled person due to the likelihood of the dermatitis re-ocurring. The appeal was based on the grounds that the condition is permanent (it was assessed as temporary at 10 per cent). Appeal decision reduced extent of disablement from 10 per cent to 3 per cent for life. Doing 'light work' as a Haulage Hand. The grounds for appeal were based on the difference in earnings - was earning 35s to £2 a shift as a coal face worker, but now 20s 7d a shift.
