Description	Date of birth: 29/04/1893 Marital status: Married Address: 21 Park Row, Mansfield Woodhouse Type of injury: Injuries - back, arms and shoulders Description of accident: Moving sleeper and was injured by empty tub Further information: Hill had an accident on 15 December 1948 which left him 'bedfast 5 weeks.' As of 10 May 1949 he was still not back at work. The extent of disablement was assessed at 20 per cent until 13 September 1949. On review this was increased to 30 per cent and included neurosis as well as arthritis of the spine. On 18 May 1950 the Medical Board decided there was no loss of faculty and the conditions were not related to the accident. A radiologist report on 4 July 1950 showed no evidence of fracture on the spine. On appeal the decision was 7 per cent disablement to include neurosis. 14.07.1949 report: 'Man's wife was present. She kept 'chipping-in' to say he had worked 47 years at Pit and that he had done his share. I received impression her attitude does not conduce to his return to work' 19.04.1950:' Mentally. Below average intelligence. Speech normal but muttering type. Poor memory. The invalid type, introspective, and sorry for himself'.
