Further information: Foers slipped and twisted his knee on 31 August 1948 and had an operation on 27 January 1949. On 12 August 1949 the Medical Board found no 'handicap' except pain on kneeling. On 16 November 1949, the Medical Appeal Tribunal assessed the disability at 15 per cent, for one year, and a decision of 11 August 1950 made a final assessment of 3 per cent for life and he received a £30 gratuity.
