Alvey was 'dazzled momentarily by bright lights, dimness of vision and cannot read newspaper with right eye.' The report provided by an opthalmic specialist notes a corneal scar, which 'should clear up in time, but not completely'. An NUM branch secretary supporting letter commented, 'one of our very best men for attending his work [...] it can be said about Charlie he is a sticker.' |
