Morris appealed: 'The overtime which I am compelled to make has now ceased thus bringing Great Hardship to the Maintenance of my home'. Handwritten note from NUM representative Cyril Stone of Pleasley Colliery stated : 'The case I made out for Mr Morris to make his appeal was just a matter of formality, the insurance officer being satisfied that he had been wrongly assessed'.
