The appeal was against the decision of 9 July 1956, that 'I had my powder magazine attendant taken from me. My rate of wage and put me on lowest rate of wage [...]'. The hearing was arranged for 23 August 1956 but was adjourned as Mr Belfield was on holiday. It was then rearranged for 5 September 1956, which was then adjourned for more information relating to the hours and earnings of a powder magazine attendant. The appeal was finally heard on 17 October 1956 but the tribunal found against Mr Belfield. There is detailed information on Mr Belfield's wages for May and June 1956, plus overtime rates.
