| Description | The medallion, issued to next-of-kin of service personnel killed as a result of the First World War, is also known as a 'Dead Man's Penny'.
This medallion is one of the early batch of medallions made at the Memorial Plaque Factory in Acton, London, which began production in 1919. Later medallions had a number stamped on the lion's back leg.
