papers dated Nov 1833 - Aug 1900

DescriptionThese papers comprises: various genealogical notes and pedigrees of the Eyre family; and correspondence mainly relating to William Jenkins Eyre's claim to the estate. The latter mentions claims by John Gladwin Colclough Lord Kinnaird, and Gladwin Cloves Cave. The following pedigrees are also included: Eyre, Cave, and a pedigree showing the descent of Gladwin Cloves Cave and John Gladwin Colclough.

When Anthony James Radcliffe, Earl of Newburgh died on 13th Dec 1814, it was thought that the only male heir to the title, Prince Giustiani of Corbari who being an alien, was not eligible to take the title. Therefore it weas assumed by Francis Eyre, son to Mary Radcliffe and Francis Eyre of Hassop.

Francis Eyre died in 1827 and was succeeded to the title by his sons Thomas (died 1833), Francis (died 1852) and his daughter Dorothea Leslie (died 1853).
