| Administrative History | South Normanton School Board managed elementary schools for boys and girls in New Street, as well as a new infants school from the mid-1890s. Derbyshire County Council, as Local Education Authority, took over the schools in 1903. In 1950 a Senior Mixed School was established in what had been the Boys Junior School. From at least 1957 the Secondary Schools for Boys and Girls were known as Frederick Gent Secondary School. Following an academy conversion agreement dated 31 October 2017 (see DCC/LG/CX/3459) Frederick Gent School ceased to exist, being replaced by an academy. |
| Custodial History | These records were deposited in Derbyshire Record Office in several accessions, dated as follows: 24 July 1998; 13 January 2000; 29 July 2003. Ownership passed to Derbyshire County Council when the school ceased to exist. |
