| Title | Memorandum of an agreement made between the Reverend Dr William Powell and John Ball, esq. William Powell agrees to lease to John Ball and Company for the term of 21 years the two tenements of Bron-y-berllan and Caymadog in the county of Cardigan, and for him the said John Ball, his executors or assigns to search and dig, cleanse and carry away all lead ore or copper ore that shall be discovered in or upon the said premises and to execute a common mine lease upon the above terms with proper and usual covenants according to this agreement and the custom of Cardiganshire. The said John Ball is to pay to the said William Powell the sum of one pound a ton of all ore made merchantable on the said premises, and also to give him or his agent four days’ notice before any ore shall be carried off the said premises, and also to forfeit this agreement or a subsequent lease, if the working on the said premises shall be neglected at any one period of time for the space of three months. The said John Ball also covenants for himself and his Company to drive a sufficient level to the old mines from or near the river under them so as to make a through trail thereof upon Bron-y-Berllan.
